According to Thomas Roe, she was involved in active sea trade and owned a ship named Ramiti which carried pilgrims to Mecca. She is said to have been politically involved in the court until Nur Jahan became empress. After her marriage, Hira Kunwari was given the title Mariam-ul-Zamani (" Mary of the Age"). Akbar's first queen was the childless Ruqaiyya Begum, and his second wife was Salima Sultan, the widow of his most trusted general, Bairam Khan. She was Akbar's third wife and one of his three chief queens. Hira Kunwari (her maiden name) married Akbar on Januat Sambhar near Jaipur. She was also the sister of Bhagwandas, and the aunt of Man Singh I of Amer, who later on became one of the nine jewels ( Navaratnas) in the court of Akba r. Hira Kunwar, Akbar's first Rajput wife was the eldest daughter of Raja Bhar Mal of Amer. She has been also referred to as " Jodha Bai" or "Jodhabai" in modern times, although she was never actually known as Jodha Bai during her lifetime. The Mosque of Mariyam Zamani Begum in Lahore, Pakistan was built in her honour. For the purpose of marrying Akbar she was converted to Islam and was rechristened Mariam-uz-Zamani after marriage. Her maiden name was Hira Kunwari (or Heera Kunwari) alias Harkha Bai, which was changed to Maan Kunwari after marriage as was the custom in Rajasthan. She was the wife of the Mughal emperor Akbar, and the mother of emperor Jahangir. Mariam-uz-Zamani née Hira Kunwari (born October 1, 1542), was a Rajput princess and was the eldest daughter of Raja BharMal, Raja of Amber, India. She was converted to Islam and rechristened Mariam-uz-Zamani and was the mother of Prince Salim, who later became the Mughal emperor Jahangir. The King of Amber's daughter, Maan Kunwar, became Akbar's empress. In the most critical instance, he persuaded the Kacchwaha Rajput Raja of Amber(modern day Jaipur ) into a matrimonial alliance, Amber and Delhi being immediate neighbours, this merger proved to be a pivotal turning point in the history of the Mughal empire. The women in Jodha’s family were dressed in kundan jewellery, rubies and pearls while for Akbar’s family it was meenakari jewellery with pearls.Mughal founder Babur, did not allow freedom of worship for Hindus and other religious groups under their direct domain, Akbar engaged in a policy of actively encouraging members of the varying religious groups to enter his government. For men, we have kalgis, kundals, haar and rings. We conceptualised on the ‘sola shringar’ for Jodha’s family. Jewellery designer Ekta Gupta says, “For women, we designed hathphool, kamarbandh, baju bandh and payals. That is one of the important reasons why historical and mythological shows find a connect with the audiences.” People want to learn lessons from historical stories and shows, and connect them with real incidents in their own life.
And the romance between Akbar and Jodha is also intriguing. Researcher Dr Bodhisattva says, “Every one has been curious to know details about Emperor Akbar’s personal life. People want to learn a lot from historical shows: Dr Bodhisattva For me, every shot has been interesting till now because that will define my work and help me figure out how I have to work in the coming episodes.” My biggest challenge is playing a 22-year-old emperor who is a warrior. I wanted to research on the young Akbar and not the super calm and collected character that Prithviraj Kapoor portrayed. I think this show is different because it is portraying a young Akbar - not the character that Prithviraj Kapoor played in Every actor today undergoes training and is well-versed with martial arts and fight sequences on a show. Rajat Tokas, who plays Akbar, says, “It is not just because I have done a similar show (ĭharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan) that I was chosen for the show.
Horse riding has been scary but I am determined to work hard. My dress and jewellery weighs around 10 kilos and it is a task to carry it for 8-10 hours on the sets. And I take it as a challenge that at this stage of my career I will be compared with Aishwarya Rai’s portrayal in I had to undergo many lessons in horse riding and sword fighting.
